I’m watching the rain falling. A tropical storm is moving up the Mississippi Valley bringing wind, rain, and maybe a little flooding with it. My garden needs this, I think, as I look in the backyard. The corn is behind, and the cucumber plants are just starting to bloom. This couldn’t have come at a better time – our well-maintained garden is ready for this.

Have you ever had a big whopper problem hit your organization? A sudden rush of orders and a short time to fill? Supplier problems? Quality issues that you have to solve for your customer? Can you imagine feeling some sense of excitement to solve the problem?

With a well trained team, this is when you get to see the magic in action. When they know what to do, where to be, and all the right moves to make success. As a manager or owner, you get to sit back and watch them do what they do best, while you do your job – remove barriers to help them get their job done.

While no one can expect the exact problems that will come down the line, like the well-tended garden, you can ensure your team is ready for the storms. When the rain comes, they will flourish.
